Bill promotes health insurance for small businesses
The State of Tennessee Senate for final approval to legislation, more small businesses to bargain collectively for lower health insurance rates.

The bill provides greater flexibility for small businesses, owners may opt for this form of pools by raising the thresholds for small businesses from 25 to 50 employees to participate, with a minimum of two employees. It would be a cooperative health group as a private cooperative purchasing at least 1000 employees or with a minimum of 10 participating employers. Membership will be voluntary, but participants must commit themselves fully on purchases funded by the plans of the cooperative for a period of five years to ensure stability pool. A cooperative must work as a non-profit, and must be in compliance with the Department of Commerce and Insurance, within the framework of the law.
“Cooperatives health care is a new opportunity for small businesses to find, quality and affordable, health insurance,” said Tracy. “Cooperatives employers offer the opportunity to earn a large group and the buying power of the group. This law would allow for continued improvement in the participation and the number of people who are insured against sickness Tennessee. ”
